History
The home of the capitol
building, Austin's history centers on that building and the fight to keep
the city the state capital. Briefly relocated to Washington on the Brazos, Texas,
the capitol eventually returned to the city when Texas was annexed by the United
States.
Natural Attractions
Located on the Colorado River, Austin is home to a number of breathtaking sites,
including Mount
Bonnell, Lake Austin and Lady Bird Lake. The area is popular for hiking,
boating and sightseeing. The latter is mostly centered on the beautiful flora
and fauna that grow up around the unique ecology in the area.
