Culture
"Keep Austin Weird" sums up the culture of this quirky city, whose weirdness runs from Leslie Cochran, Austin's resident cross-dressing vagrant, who has run for mayor a number of times, to the Museum of Ephemerata. Other notable weird attractions in Austin include Donna Pardue's apple artwork, the Cathedral of Junk and the Casa Neverlandia, a uniquely designed and decorated home in Austin.

History
The home of the capitol building, Austin's history centers on that building and the fight to keep the city the state capital. Briefly relocated to Washington on the Brazos, Texas, the capitol eventually returned to the city when Texas was annexed by the United States.
