Fed from the fourth largest underground natural springs in Texas, the expansive, three-acre Barton Springs Pool remains at a chilly, 68 degrees Fahrenheit year round, attracting a brave, diverse, but loyal population of visitors. This crowd-pleasing swimming spot , surrounded my century old pecan trees, has a rich history, once called Sacred Springs by Native Americans who came to heal their wounds, and later becoming a popular location for baptisms. The pool can be found in Austin’s 358-acre Zilker Park, 2 miles southwest of downtown Austin.
