Buyer beware

Posted by ddog99 on 7/2/2009

I've taken my two shihtzus to be groomed twice. The first time everything went well. The second time both dogs were matted, the groomers knew it and I knew it. When I picked the dogs up one of them had several bad burns and ended up being taken to the vet to get treatment. The guy who took my money blamed the burns on the dog for 'being dirty' ('it just happens sometimes!') and then proceeded to fleece me for an extra $20 for a 'matted' fee. So, the whole trip cost about $170, not including the $150 trip to the vet to get the dogs skin taken care of. While the place is better than Petco etc. I'd strongly advise you NOT to take your dog in on a busy day. You can drop them off at 9 a.m. and they are never ready before 5:00. It makes you wonder if they are sending them out someplace else to be groomed.....like dry cleaning or something.

Wonderful Shop

I have four Maltese, all in the 3 yrs. old range. My husband and I did extensive research when selecting a groomer for our puppies because of the horror storries we have heard about groomers. We visited shops, and talked extensively to the owners and/or groomers, and many of their customers. After this process, there was no question that Plush Pad was our choice to care for our puppies. Sandra and her team are great! They care about our puppies (kids); Gizmo, Joshua, Sophie, and Chloe, as if they were theirs. I couldn't ask for more. I have watched them with other little ones that come to her to look beautiful. I would recommend Plush Pad to anyone, without hesitation. Thank you Sandra for doing such a great job with our kids, and for caring as you do!

My favorite salon to date

After some negative experiences in the past regarding my skiddish cocker spaniel, Plush Pad left me wowed. After fitting me in last minute for the highly coveted Saturday appointment, I picked up my pooch early afternoon and found him looking the best I have ever seen. They did an absolutely fantastic job! They even gave him a toy to celebrate his first visit which has not left his mouth since. Despite the fact that my pup has a history of nervousness, they said he was well behaved and they had no problems with him.

Don't Do It

I have a terrier puppy that requires some bi- monthly grooming and is very social and playful. He is normally very easy to bathe and groom when I do a little bit at home and from what I have been told by other groomers I have taken him to. However, this establishment said that he was crying and screaming the whole time and when I picked him up he began to bark at the woman who groomed him. I will never take him back to this place again. They do not seem to know how to take care of or groom a puppy and not only did he look silly but it cost me a rediculous $70. He is only 6lbs and not very hairy, so why the big price tag? I will be telling my friends and family about my horrible experience, and never return to this place.

Response from Plush Pad Inc

The Plush Pad has been in business since 1973. Our clients come from as far away as Mexico City and New York, New York. Our clients are very loyal some having been with us for 34 years. We are frank and honest about their pets behavior. Most of our clients expect nothing less. These are people who want only the best for their pet and that includes training. If no one ever tells you that your pet has a behavioral problem it will never be addressed. As to this client, they never said they had any issues with us nor did they contact us and let us know of their dissatisfaction. The groomer that their pet barked at has been with us since 1975. I can assure you that there are few if any shops in this town that have as much experience as us. As to the price, we are expensive because in order to keep groomers with a combined experience of 80 years you have to pay them what they are worth. Our business has grown out of our love and care for animals. Anyone who knows us personally will tell you we are animal advocates. Our motto, We have your pets best interest at heart is not just something we say we mean it. We have turned down many clients because they wish to have their matted dog brushed out. We will not brush out matted dogs because it hurts them and makes them hate being groomed. We demand that every pet have the best possible experience. So if we insulted this person by telling them that their pet needed to be picked up as soon as it was finished then so be it. I will not have an unhappy dog on my conscience. As to the hair cut, the dog received the best hair cut that puppy coat and its behavior would allow for. To all of our loyal clients we thank you for allowing us to have your beloved pets as part of our family for the last 34 years. Sincerely, Louis Tash G.M. Plush Pad Inc.
